Aurene Blue Steuben Glass Perfume Bottle

$700.00

A beautiful and rare bohemian art glass perfume bottle, made by Steuben in the iconic blue Aurene color. The footed perfume bottle has a slender and soft shape, with a lid up top that ends in a point. This dark blue glass is the iconic Steuben blue that seems to have iridescence and deep highlights in it. The colors range from purple to light blue, to a yellowish green. The perfume bottle is approximately 7-3/4 inches tall with the lid being 2-1/2 inches long. The interior of the lid was originally much longer with a dropper point, but this was broken so the lid bottom has now been polished. The interior of the stopper lid looks suitable for the perfume bottle but it is not as it once was. The glass stopper has a small nick to it, but otherwise this antique piece of glass is in remarkable condition for its age. The interior nick is not visible when the lid is on the bottle of course, so the perfume bottle does retains its beauty. Once does not see the change that has occurred to the interior of the lid until the lid pulled off the top. The lid is the original piece, and there are no other flea bites anywhere else to the glass.

It is signed on the bottom with "Aurene" and the model number 1414. This model of perfume bottle was made in 1915. Steuben glass was made at the Steuben Glass Works of Corning, New York. The factory was founded by Frederick Carder and T.G. Hawkes; this Aurene blue perfume bottle was created before they were bought by the Corning Glass Company in 1918.
