10K Gold Victorian Fleur de Lys Brooch
A tender, Victorian-era 10 karat yellow gold fleur-de-lys brooch that has some nice dimensionality, texture and soft curves. The flower measures approximately 1 x 1 inches and weigh 2.2 grams. The gold is hollowed but durable. Its soft edges create a nice sculpted look, and the detail on this piece are very special. Originally this piece was a watch brooch so that it could be hooked onto a watch chain. On the back it still features a clip, and today you can add charms or a detail of your choice to enhance this piece, as shown in the image. The brooch clip works perfectly and the piece is marked on the back with a maker's mark and 10K.
The fleur-de-lys is the symbolic flower of French royalty, and historically was associated with the French coat of arms. But today this stylized flower is also a motif that represents many other things- from Catholicism, to the country of France, to the Italian Renaissance.
