14K Gold Tiffany & Company Vintage Toots Signet Ring
An elegant Tiffany & Company signet ring that dates to the 1920s with the word "Toots" inscribed in fancy script. As a signet ring, a family crest or monogram would traditionally decorate the top; here the sweet and humorous nick-name "Toots decorates the top of the band, as the signature of the ring. Typically, a signet ring was used to sign important documents, and for sealing envelopes with wax. This is a classic and bold ring, a remarkable vintage piece. The ring is a size 6, has been marked on the interior with the gold standard of 14K as well as maker's mark of Tiffany & Co. The yellow gold is reflective and bright; note that the image with a dark front is the reflection of a shadow, which lets you see the engraved letters more clearly. The ring weighs 7.2 grams.
Signets date back to as early as 3500 BC and were known as the 'gentleman's ring'. Signet rings symbolize family heritage and are a great addition to any jewelry collection.
