14K Gold Victorian Emerald & Ruby Signature Feline Earrings
A gorgeous pair of 14 karat feline dangle earrings, made as unique signature pieces from Victorian era cat jewelry. Two heads dangle from gold link chains made of 14 karat yellow gold. The cat may be a tiger, or panther- perhaps even a lioness. These are authentic pieces from 1890- only the earring hooks and chain have been added. The heads of the cats are quite mysterious since each profile has been treated differently with a variety of textures and shapes. The emerald cabochon is a vibrant green gemstone measuring 3mm in size. The emerald cabochon is on one end of the head, while on the other side is the staring cat with deep ruby eyes. The rubies are each 1mm in size but very vibrant. The gold is a magnificent yellow, which makes all the colors of each gemstone so distinct. The head of the feline measures 1/4 x 1/2 of an inch and the earrings dangle about 1-1/4 inches. The earrings weigh a total of 3.8 grams. There is a nice movement to them when worn. The majestic feline has represented fertility and strength for centuries. In the symbolic language of the Victorian era these earrings would have been worn as a symbol of power and elegance. These signature earrings make an unforgettable gift, perfect for a feline lover, or the Leo in your life.
