18K White & Yellow Gold Art Deco Diamond Dangle Earrings
A lovely pair of early Art Deco 18 karat white gold and diamonds earrings. The earrings are white on the front and yellow on the back. The pair are dangling earrings that are composed of three moving parts: a top rose cut diamond encircled by white gold in an illusion setting, a rhombus shape that has a vertical design with three tiny diamonds, and a final larger diamond measuring 3mm, in an illusion setting. The two larger diamonds are bright and lively. They are H/I in color and SL-1 in clarity.
What makes these earrings stand out is the illusion setting that highlights the diamonds, and makes them diamond appear as if floating; the setting also makes the gemstones look brighter and bigger. There is remarkable mille-grain work around the bead set tiny rose cut diamonds on the rhombus. The bottom is an old European cut diamond in a smart illusion setting. The combination of soft lines and geometric form make these dangle earrings appear nostalgic and romantic, while at the same time quite sharp!
There is an indistinguishable mark on the earring back where they safely fasten. Otherwise these earrings are unmarked; they have been acid tested to 18 karats. The total diamond weight of the earrings is 1/3 of a carat. The earrings dangle approximately 1-1/4 inches and weigh 4.4 grams. Circa 1920s. These look superb with any outfit- night or day!
