Rare 22K yellow gold, George III Spade Guinea coin, Polychrome Enamel and Sardonyx Intaglio Locket or Pendant from the Georgian era. This 1794 Guinea with the Fifth Portrait of George III on Obverse also features the well-known Spade or "spade ace" shield in five color enamel on reverse. At least six different types of guinea were issued for George III, from 1761 to 1813 and took it's name from the region of West Africa where much of the gold for the coins was originally sourced. The reverse side of the locket contains a sardonyx intaglio carved with the Kidd family crest and motto "Donec Impleat Orbem" which translates too "Until it fills the World". Kidd is an old Angus surname in both Dundee and Arbroath, in Forfarshire, Scotland first recorded in 1357. The locket opens and closes with ease and the interior glazed compartment contains a removable gold frame with original glass for a small keepsake or photo.
