Alaskan Gold Rush Moss Agate and Gold Nugget Earrings

$675.00

These beautiful oval moss agates are surrounded by tiny gold nuggets from the the Alaskan Gold Rush. Originally cufflinks, we thought the elongated oval nature of the moss agate would lend itself to beautiful earrings, and we weren’t wrong! The moss agates are a deep forest green with some flecks of a milky wash creating a subtle marbling across the stones. The oval cabochons are bezel set, surrounded by well-matched tiny gold nuggets. Lovely and poetic, these earrings are emblematic of the Alaskan Gold Rush era.

Gold nuggets are formed by hot fluids flowing through cracks deep in the Earth’s crust. Weather eventually releases the nuggets into streams and bodies of water, where they are shaped by erosion and time. This piece dates to the Alaskan Gold Rush of the late 1800’s, when more than 100,000 prospectors migrated to the Klondike region of the Yukon between 1896-1899 after the discovery of gold.

The gold nuggets test as 22k gold. The rest of the earrings are 14k gold and the earrings backs are marked as 14k. Each earring measures 11/16” x 3/8”. Combined, the earrings weigh 3.65 grams.

For pierced ears.
