Victorian 18K Gold and Diamond Taille d’Epargne Ring

$2,100

This is an incredible Victorian Taille d’Epargne ring made with 18kt yellow gold, diamonds, and black enamel. Taille d'epargné is a form black enamel tracery, which translates from the French as "saving cut." It became a popular form of bright cut work during the Victorian era, and was often seen in mourning jewelry.

This ring is a size 8 and has sizing balls along the band’s interior to prevent the ring from spinning. It may be possible to have the ring sized with the help of your local jeweler. The face of the ring has a diameter of approximately 1 1/4”. The ring sits approximately 1/2 an inch tall from one’s finger. Although this piece is not marked I have tested it as 18kt gold.

The star motif and design of this ring is reminiscent of an eye-catching Mandala. The diamonds are elevated by carriages and protrude out from the face of the ring. This ring is detailed throughout with fine engravings—all of which were done by hand. This piece contains eight old mine cut diamonds and a single round brilliant cut diamond at the center. The old mine cut diamonds are all approximately 3.20mm in size while the single round brilliant diamond is approximately 3.60mm in size. The diamonds have an approximate combined weight of 1.26 carats. This piece weighs approximately 16.00 grams.

This eye-catching antique ring is sure to wow others! This piece of history would make an unforgettable gift or fantastic addition to your jewelry collection!
