14K Gold Victorian Bee Ring with Ruby & Cats Eye

$725.00
A beautiful Victorian era Bee ring made from a stick pin. It has bezel set rubies for eyes and a grey cats eye gemstone for the thorax. In the language of Victorian era symbolism and sentimentality, the bee came to signify keeping busy, teamwork and loyalty. The shank of the ring is a recent addition and acid tests to be 14K gold as is the bee. The insect is an original antique (circa 1890), and favorite symbol of the 19th Century. The bee has lovely vibrant 1mm pink rubies for eyes. It's wings are a yellow gold with hand-engraved details that make them very realistic. The cats eye, or blue grey gem on its body is a Chrysoberyl an ancient talisman believed to have metaphysical properties and measures 6mm. It is no coincidence that this gem is used for the center of the bee. Its cabochon form resembles an all-seeing fortune teller's globe. The ring is a size 6 and it weighs 2.6 grams. This ring is quite enigmatic and its beautiful craftsmanship make this a memorable gift, a wonderful Victorian era piece.
