Victorian Sterling Silver Belt Buckle Cuff Bracelet, circa 1880
This is a stunning sterling silver buckle bracelet from the Victorian era. This piece tests as sterling silver and is fully marked, however, I have been unable to identify the maker. The bracelet includes a maker’s mark as well as marks for Birmingham, and the letter date for 1880. This piece is one inch wide and would fit up to a 7” wrist.
This striking bracelet is beautifully designed, a wonderful example the Victorian aesthetic. The hand engraved Ivy leaf motif on the front adds an organic feel to this structured piece. The buckle and belt are exceptionally rendered, detailed with silver beading and the hand engraved Ivy motif. The bracelet hinges opens with ease and closes securely. The clasp must be lined up in order to close fully. There are some light scratches from wear, which is expected with a piece of this age. There are two, very small, repair marks on the back of the bracelet. Otherwise, this piece is in very good condition for its age. This piece weighs approximately 31.75 grams or approximately 1.00 Troy ounce.
This piece would make an unforgettable gift or a fabulous addition to your antique collection!
